Fitbit motivational feature to take users on virtual hikes

It's also Fitbit's first wearable aimed at swimmers, with the ability to resist water up to a depth of 50 metres, and automatically track swimming exercises. FIT stock has lost over 55% of its value over the a year ago, so can these new devices drive more growth for the company?

The Charge 2 is the company's take on a high-end fitness tracker. It now shows a series of statistics and periods with a touch-to-scroll interface.

More fundamental than the aesthetic change is the new personalized exercise modes.

The upgraded design features a tap-sensitive display that is four times larger than Charge HR.

There are several other noticeable differences between the Charge 2 and its predecessor. Although you can manually switch into an exercise mode, there's also auto-recognition - the band can spot when you're sleeping, too - while the all-day pulse rate tracking aims to help wearers stay in the right "cardio zone" to maximize the results of whatever they're doing. The affordable, yet capable Fitbit Flex has had a long and storied history on sale, enjoying healthy sales and a number of great software updates.

Along those same lines, the new devices include Guided Breathing Sessions.

Fitbit says the research suggests improving breathing performance for slower, deeper breaths can help with cardiovascular health, lower blood pressure, and cut anxiety.

UFC's featherweight division gets new contender as Anthony Pettis makes successful drop
With one significant victory already under his belt, Pettis has big plans for his future in the featherweight division. Oliveira looked for a heel hook, but he'd been taking a lot of shots and the round ended before he could make a move.

Luckily, Fitbit's second new device, the Flex 2 comes equipped to deal with that problem. Its expected battery life is around five days.

Starting with the Fitbit Charge 2, the new device comes with a large OLED screen that includes a built-in tap display and is meant to capture all-day activity, including the usual statistics like step count, heart rate, calories burned, and more. That smaller size allows the Flex 2 to fit into a handful of upcoming accessories.

Indeed, the whole tracker itself has been redesigned, and there's an extra, color LED atop the row of white progress lights.

It's launching a new motivational feature, called Adventures, that will be available to all Fitbit users through a free app update this week. Fitbit is continuing its partnership with Tory Burch and adding one with Vera Wang. The Flex 2 will also include additional bands ranging from the classic fitness bands for $14.95 all the way up various Bangle and Pendant accessories that will be priced at $99.95. It also attracts fingerprints easily, an issue shared by the Fitbit Alta.

So, the new Fitbit Adventures are effectively individual challenges.

The feature tracks the distance you've walked or run and maps it against actual trails, starting with three at Yosemite National Park in California. An accurate VO2 max measurement typically requires specialized equipment in a lab setting, but Fitbit uses its heart rate and other profile information (like your age and body weight) to provide an estimate the company says is pretty close to what you would get in a lab environment. Fitbit Charge 2 and Flex 2 will be available globally at other major retailers in September and October, respectively. You can choose from a range of luxe, premium mirror-finish bangles in silver stainless steel, and 22k-plated gold or rose gold stainless steel, or elegant lariat-style necklaces in silver stainless steel or 22k-plated gold stainless steel.
