PlayStation 4 update 4.0 will bring long-awaited folders, UI refresh

Sign up here if you're interested in participating in that. Earlier today, PlayStation's Brand Marketing Vice President John Koller took to the company's official USA blog to announce the imminent arrival of the PS4 update codenamed Shingen. Sony says more details on the update, including the date of its arrival for all users, will be coming in the weeks ahead. First up is that the UI has been completely overhauled. It will also show several new things, like the online status of your friends and shortcuts to access your favorite groups and communities.

Sony revealed today that the menu will be fully customizable, allowing users to add or remove items as they see fit.

The Quick Menu above will also be presented when the PS button on the DS4 controller is pressed.

The most notable updates are to the Quick Menu and Share features. The Share Menu saves the last social network you shared video clips or screenshots to, making video and screenshot sharing a lot faster and easier.

Arguably, the biggest complaint about the PS4's UI is its icon organization, or rather the inability to adjust it. Games are downloaded and then thrown into a single-file horizontal line. With folders, users can now organize the PS4's content launcher, that bar that appears on the game's home screen.

Share with Us - We'd love to hear eyewitness accounts, the history behind an article, and smart, constructive criticism. The 22nd Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF) officially opened on Friday night with a red carpet ceremony.

We're also making some pretty big changes to the Library. This new tab will only show those items that are owned by a player, and the main library will only show what is installed on PS4. There's new system backgrounds and the What's New tab has been completely revised.

The new folder system should accompany this nicely by helping you de-clutter your library and find just what you're looking for.

There are some new sorting tools for your Library as well allowing you to sort content by purchase date or install status.

Folders and Library Organisation - You'll now be able to make folders, helping you collect your favourite gams and apps in one place for easy access. Finally you can view all your trophies while offline as well as an option to see the content and requirements of hidden trophies. By default, the Trophy will remain hidden, but this gives users the option to display its name and information.

In the meantime, Sony has given us a peek at some of the changes.
