Conor McGregor to challenge Eddie Alvarez for lightweight title at UFC 205

Eddie Alvarez, the UFC Lightweight champ will now get UFC Featherweight king Conor McGregor after two fight cancellations with two other fighters.

Dressed in a sharp pin-striped blue suit, the brash 28-year-old predicted he would knock Alvarez out in the first round on November 12 to become the first UFC fighter to hold titles in two weight classes simultaneously.

White says negotiations to make the UFC 205 main event weren't all that hard because at the end of the day, McGregor is putting on the fights everybody wants to see and that's what he loves most about him.

American Alvarez, 32, holds the 155lbs strap after his impressive first round knockout over Rafael dos Anjos - who McGregor should have fought previous year at UFC 196 before injury ruled him out and Diaz stepped in at late notice.

UFC president Dana White announced the potential booking on Tuesday's edition of SportsCenter.

Garnett says 'farewell' after 21 NBA seasons
He was traded from the team in 2007 to the Boston Celtics, where he won his only National Basketball Association championship. But don't forget he also won an Olympic gold medal in 2000, averaging 10.8 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists.

Then he told Yahoo Sports that McGregor's next bout will be against Jose Aldo for the featherweight championship - a title he won in December, before immediately skipping town to take on bigger opponents. However, if McGregor wins, it would seem to point to him staying at lightweight where he could begin new rivalries in a fresh division with contenders he's yet to face. McGregor would become only the third two-division champion in UFC history. With tickets going anywhere from $100 to $1250, per Forbes, this event could possibly shatter UFC's longstanding gate record of $12 million. Wow. While Amanda Nunes, 28, won't defend her newly won Women's Bantamweight title, the UFC Women's Strawweight champ, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, 29, will defend against Karolina Kowalkiewicz, 30.

McGregor will now once again attempt on becoming the first-ever simultaneous two-weight world champion in the biggest event in UFC history. With Nate Diaz stepping in to defeat the Irishman, only for McGregor to have his revenge in last month's rematch.

It's not the first time McGregor has been scheduled to add the 155lbs strap to his featherweight belt.

McGregor last fought at UFC 202 in August.

He became the first man to win a title in both the UFC and rival MMA promotion Bellator in July, when he beat Rafael dos Anjos via first round TKO. After UFC 200, US anti-doping officials also found Brock Lesnar, the former WWE star, had violated the UFC's drug policy at the event.
