Jackson, No. 10 Louisville run over No. 2 Florida St 63-20

The Louisville Cardinals may have entered their name into the discussion of potential college football championship contenders. "Heisman!" from Cardinals' fans and seemed satisfied knowing he had played a role in one of the program's biggest victories.

A very big role worthy of all the adulation. However, it was too little, too late for a Seminoles team that had high expectations.

What was billed as an ACC showdown, was nothing of the sort. Jackson had more rushing yards than the top two backs combined for Florida State in today's box score. The elite running and passing skills displayed by the Louisville star reminded many of Michael Vick, but the former Hokies great offered his own opinion: Jackson is a much better college player. "I think their hard work and dedication really showed up". Because while Lamar Jackson is at the heart of everything, their dismantling of Florida State was a complete team effort.

"We look at the start of the season and we know that everything has to go through Florida State and Clemson", head coach Bobby Petrino said. "He was able to focus and concentrate". The rest of the game featured the same mismatches getting exploited over and over as Jackson caught the Seminoles' defense in bad spots and made them pay with quick scores.

Louisville dominated Florida State from start to finish Saturday, and Petrino had a slew of heroes on his team.

"Give credit to Louisville, they did a great job", FSU coach Jimbo Fisher said. "You could see it by the way he played the game". Louisville's defense is killing FSU, and then special teams nearly return another punt for a TD.

Jeremy Smith ran for two TDs for the Cardinals, but Jackson was almost unstoppable in piling up 362 yards of offense. Show me somebody more wonderful than this sensational sophomore who shredded FSU with 146 yards and four TDs on the ground and another 216 yards and a touchdown through the air. It followed his interception on the previous series, one sign that he is human. "Coming from him? I was amazed when they told me in the locker room". I was like I'm determined we have to score right here.

No. 1 Alabama 48, No. 19 Mississippi 43: In Oxford, Mississippi, Alabama scored two defensive touchdowns and another on special teams to overcome a three-touchdown deficit. But now that Louisville and Florida State have played three games, one-quarter of their schedules, it's clear that this is merely a case of identity theft.

It still looks to be a pretty steep mountain for Florida State to climb, but the season is never defined exclusively by what happens in the first three weeks of a season. But Alabama (3-0, 1-0) responded. While the Seminoles took a setback in their first ACC game of the season, there is still just over three-quarters of the season left to play and there is still hope for the folks in Tallahassee to play for an ACC title. Louisville gained 375 total yards in the first half alone after putting up 406 against the Seminoles in the entire game last season. Kelly fumbled deep in Ole Miss territory and Payne recovered before scoring a 3-yard touchdown to tie the game at 24. An NCAA rule allows for games to be shortened by time if the coaches agree.

Clemson led 45-0 at the half against the FCS Bulldogs (0-3), and the third- and fourth quarters were 12 minutes each instead of the usual 15 minutes. That would include a home win against Deshaun Watson and Clemson in November.

He collected five more touchdowns, four running, to raise his season total to 18. That kick came after North Dakota State had tried to take the lead earlier on a two-point conversion late in the fourth quarter, but Iowa turned that away. The receiver flipped the ball to the official before taking a knee.

RALEIGH, N.C. - Backup quarterback Jalan McClendon rushed for two touchdowns and threw for a third, and North Carolina State beat Old Dominion.
