Technology has allowed more polls and surveys, more access to information about our candidates, and more opportunities for the people to give their opinions. There's a minimum requirement to participateNo one is automatically invited to the debate, no matter what party they come from, according to the CPD.

Nor should qualifying for debates be about who makes the most ruckus. Gary Johnson, the Libertarian nominee, has been stirring noise in the impending presidential election. Johnson supports unlimited immigration and amnesty for all illegal aliens now in the United States. Only 18 percent rated Clinton's ability to handle national security as good or very good, and only 27 percent rated Trump's ability the same way.

The exclusion is a major setback for the struggling campaigns of both Johnson and Stein. Winning name recognition nationally has proven hard, with the major party nominees hoarding TV air time and fundraising dollars. Perhaps they will. But if enough people are willing to vote for who they really believe in, and not just who is less bad, we may be able to alter the way elections are conducted in the future.

Asked to weigh in on the Facebook effort, Johnson's campaign in an email to Newsday replied that the "campaign is not involved in any protests regarding the debate at Hofstra, on campus or online".

Well, here's your scientific survey, courtesy of the Military Times: Trump 37.6, Johnson 36.5, Clinton 16.3. The CPD won't look past their failure to meet the required criteria to participate and they shouldn't. While the ticket has not reached that necessary level, he touted strong support in polls from independents, millennials, those in active duty military and retired military members and their families.

In Massachusetts, polls show Clinton with a substantial lead over Trump, and Johnson trailing a distant third. Let us hear them in their own debate. But if she wants to bring back the third party vote, she should start by changing herself. And Johnson knows how vital the debates are for his White House hopes.
