On Russia-backed TV network, Trump doubts Russian influence

Trump, who has often praised Russian President Vladimir Putin, made the comments in an interview with former CNN broadcaster Larry King, whose podcast was aired on Thursday night, September 8, on the RT network, a 24-hour news channel that broadcasts in both English and Russian.

Trump, who has faced backlash from both parties in recent days for praising Russian President Vladimir Putin, was interviewed by Larry King, a veteran American journalist whose show airs Thursday evenings on RT America, the US partner of a network originally called "Russia Today".

"Personally, I think she's an unstable person", he said. "Maybe the Democrats are putting that out - who knows", Trump told King.

"He's been a leader far more than our president has been a leader", Trump said during the NBC forum, pointing to Putin's alleged 82 percent approval rating and respect on the world stage.

The remarks have been harshly criticized by Republicans and Trump supporters.

Critics of the network, which mostly targets audiences outside Russian Federation, have described it as a propaganda arm of Putin's government.

"He's already done damage to us vis-a-vis Russian Federation as a candidate".

Hillary Clinton: Half of Trump Supporters Belong in 'Basket of Deplorables'
In another poll from earlier this year, two-thirds of Trump supporters said they hold unfavorable views of Muslim-Americans. There Clinton bemoaned the people she described as " deplorables ", saying "unfortunately there are people like that.

Relations with Russian Federation remain a complicated territory of American foreign policy.

Clinton, meanwhile, pilloried Trump for having suggested United States military leaders had been "reduced to rubble", accusing him of having "trash-talked American generals".

Mr. Trump is, however, unequivocal. I want to defeat them. If we had a relationship with Russian Federation, wouldn't it be wonderful if we could work on it together and knock the hell out of ISIS?

"No conversation about our national security would be complete unless we acknowledged that the nominee on the other side promises to do things that will make us less safe", Clinton said. "I think I would have a very, very good relationship with Putin".

The New York businessman also said on RT on Thursday he did not think Russia's government was behind the hack of Democratic National Committee email servers, and doubted it was trying to interfere in the US election. "Well, nobody knows that for a fact. And yes, I stand by that phrasing", Rubio said.

Besides which, King said, RT never has edited his show "so what's the deal?" "Because that would not be appropriate at all".

Larry King's not buying the story advanced by Donald Trump's campaign manager, that Trump did not known an interview he did with King Thursday night was for RT, the Russian government-backed news channel. "That is what a true commander in chief would do". But many have declared a loser: "Matt Lauer", Colbert said.
