Tesla's Autopilot System Under Scrutiny in Fatal China Crash

Tesla also indicated it has been unable to get more information about the circumstances of the crash from the victim's family.

According to a spokeswoman for Tesla Motors, however, the company has never sold Autopilot as a technology that enables a driverless system or one that transforms the Model S into a self-driving vehicle. In response, a spokesperson for Tesla told the Los Angeles Times that the break up was actually caused by Mobileye's jealousy. The first reported death involving the Autopilot occurred in May in America - and has been widely reported.

On May 7, a Tesla driver was killed in a collision with a truck when using the autopilot technology in Florida.

The Autopilot feature in electric Tesla vehicles has been called into question by Mobileye for its stated ability to drive a vehicle completely unassisted.

The Israeli company stopped working with Tesla in July after "safety concerns" after a June accident involving Autopilot and Tesla's handling of the aftermath.

Earlier this week, Mobileye claimed the breakup was its own idea.

Amnon Shashua said that the system "is not created to cover all possible crash situations in a safe manner". About Autopilot, Shashua told Reuters, It is not created to cover all possible crash situations in a safe manner.

Ties are at a turning point, China tells Philippine delegation
President Rodrigo Duterte may soon reveal his next "thick" list of drug personalities since it has just passed "final validation". Citing concerns over ISIS, Filipino president Rodrigo Duterte made it clear Monday that he wants USA troops out of his country.

Issues on the Autopilot led the company to put limits on the design in January.

He said Tesla's "spin" tended to over-represent the capabilities of what is intended only as a "driver assistance system".

"Long term this is going to hurt the interests of the company and hurt the interests of an entire industry", Shashua said. Autopilot had been activated at the time.

"Since the release of Autopilot, we've continuously educated customers on the use of the features, reminding them that they're responsible to keep their hands on the wheel and remain alert and present when using Autopilot", a spokeswoman said. This prompted Tesla to respond that they have been constantly educating drivers to always be prepared to take full control of the vehicle. After Electrek had contacted the company, a possible reason for that emerged: Tesla can't check whether Autopilot was on at the time.

But dashcam footage reportedly shows the Model S smashing into the road-cleaning vehicle on a highway. He said he was pulled over by police on the suspicion that he was driving drunk while using Autopilot mode.

This didn't stop the public rift with Mobileye, however.
