States of emergency have been declared in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia with prices jumping as much 16 cents in Georgia and and 10 cents in Tennessee in the last week, according to Auto Club. "The company says the line should restart tomorrow, but it will take several days for fuel delivery to return to normal in North Carolina". It wasn't initially possible to pinpoint the leak, partly because highly flammable benzene and gasoline vapors prevented firefighters and inspectors from approaching the site for days. The line is responsible for bringing gasoline, diesel and jet fuel from Texas and Louisiana refineries to a number of Gulf Coast and southeastern states.
