Some republicans distance themselves, others back Trump after recent video released

Friday saw a significant October surprise when the Washington Post released footage of Donald Trump making extremely lewd comments about women, including how fame allows him to "grab them by the p*ssy". Ron Johnson and Gov. Scott Walker, all of whom condemned Trump's remarks, are still scheduled to speak. But even as many congressional Republicans, including some very conservative House members, pulled away from Trump on Saturday, Ryan did not go so far as to withdraw his support for the businessman and former reality television star.

"I'm disgusted with the comments", Walker said.

Trump also used the video to attack Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton and her husband, former president Bill Clinton, who Trump said intimidated, and, in the former president's case, abused women.

The event in Elkhorn, hosted by the 1st Congressional District Republican Party of Wisconsin, begins at 3:30 p.m. EDT.

Walker has endorsed Trump and helped Pence prepare for his vice presidential debate. Instead, the polling suggests that up until this point, the Janesville Republican has managed to straddle the Trump divide in his state.

The video, obtained by the Washington Post, showed Trump talking with Billy Bush, then of "Access Hollywood", on a bus with the name of the entertainment television program scrawled across its side.

A campaign source told CNN that "Wisconsin is off" for Pence. But the video tests the limits of that assumption in a way unlike any of Trump's many previous controversies. This is a guy who bragged about sleeping with (terribly Victorian of me, I know, to use that term) married women.

In an unusual move, his vice presidential running mate Mike Pence issued a critical statement of Trump's words, saying on Twitter that he "cannot defend them".

She says in a statement that she previously tolerated Trump's "antics" because she wanted to support the party and its nominee.

But Saturday on the streets of Houston, Trump supporters proved his crude words don't matter at least not to the diehards.

"There have been more than enough "final straw" moments during this campaign, and Speaker Ryan has continued to unabashedly put party first in supporting the most repulsive candidate for president that our country has ever seen", Kelly Ward, the group's executive director, said.

As he concluded his remarks, he was booed and shouted at by Trump backers. But we do know that his endorsement of Trump hasn't hurt him so far with these voting groups, which are far more negative than positive toward Trump. Trump left the building briefly to greet a small crowd of supporters, saying "100 percent" he would remain in the race. Mitch McConnell, took the same tack, distancing himself from Trump's comments while declining to say whether he should leave the race.

"I said it, I was wrong and I apologize", said Trump in a video recorded by the campaign late Friday night.

The defectors included 2008 Republican presidential nominee John McCain, the Arizona senator, who said Trump's "boasts about sexual assaults make it impossible to continue to offer even conditional support for his candidacy".

The presence of Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, Sen.

Defiant Trump supporters voiced their frustration at Ryan and other Republicans who spoke at the county fairgrounds in front of two large American flags, rows of pumpkins and stacks of straw. "It was offensive. No excuses", she said.

In his years as a reality TV boss on "The Apprentice", Donald Trump repeatedly demeaned women with sexist language, according to show insiders.

Asked about the reaction at a campaign field office, a Trump field staffer told CNN there were "gasps".

I think he gave a spirited argument, Ryan said.

Ryan said, "We have got a responsibility for ourselves right here in Wisconsin".
