Ware, Smith help lead Chiefs to 26-10 over Raiders

The Chiefs put their time to good use.

After a fast-paced first Oakland drive that resulted in a touchdown, the Raiders (4-2) split apart at the seams to lose to division rival Kansas City Chiefs, 26-10.

Those seemed like idle words early Sunday, especially when the Oakland Raiders carved up the Kansas City defense on their first drive to take a seven-point lead. A pessimist would say the Chiefs should have done this after the bye. But he said this play was practically automatic, since he's never dropped a pass in practice. "I'm still confident we will turn this around defensively". Responding well in a hostile environment. Hopefully it's a sign of things to come. Alex Smith quickly found his jumbo target on the tunnel screen, and Poe barreled ahead to find pay dirt. "We took our lumps". "We were outplayed and out-coached".

Reid was patient enough to let his team's run game develop, going back to it over and over again as the day wore on. "As soon as we watch film, we are going to be onto New Orleans".

The bad news for the Raiders Sunday, of course, was their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jamaal Charles was also back to action, after a minimal outing in week four at Pittsburgh. Just when you start to get used to Crabtree making great catches in a Raider uniform - they stop throwing the ball to him!?!? He just is so tough. Instead, the offense moved the football effectively against a good Denver defense and they were able to dominate Denver's beleaguered offensive line.

Kansas City had its pick of which way it wanted to dissect the Raiders defense on an afternoon it ran for 183 yards and saw Alex Smith complete 19 of 22 passes for 224 yards. Amari Cooper had nine catches for 117 yards in the first half, but just one for 12 yards after that as the Raiders were thoroughly beaten.

To date, Oakland has held opponents only once to under 20 points in a game (17-10 win over Tennessee in Week 3).

Cardinals Week 6 Game
But after getting off to a 1-1, they have turned into hot mess, losers of three straight by a combined score of 82-33. He was placed on injured reserve and was scheduled to undergo shoulder surgery to fix a torn rotator cuff.

"That's the game we play", said defensive lineman Dontari Poe, who got into the act on offense with a TD run of his own. He scored his first TD since September 28, 2015, with a 4-yard run midway through the second quarter.

On third-and-goal from the 1, Reid went deep into his playbook. They lost a couple of key cogs on the line with right tackle Donald Stephenson missing the last few weeks and left tackle Russell Okung now dealing with concussion symptoms. Poe also had one last season against the San Diego Chargers. Both men, I am sure, want to do really well on Sunday.

The Chiefs forced a punt and took over on Oakland's 36 after Tyreek Hill's 50-yard return. With the Chiefs facing third-and-goal from the 1 in the third quarter, Poe came in as an eligible receiver. Peters picked off Derek Carr this week, and after hauling in eight interception past year, already has four in 2016. "That was bad. That was a bad performance by us".

The drive was capped off on a 3-yard touchdown reception by wide receiver Andre Holmes in the back of the end zone. Cooper caught nine passes for 117 yards in the first half.

A late fumble by Carr with 7:14 remaining was the nail in the coffin for the Raiders. Raiders OTs Menelik Watson (calf ), Vadal Alexander (ankle) and Matt McCants (knee) were inactive.

Starting halfback Latavius Murray missed his second game with a toe injury he suffered at Baltimore in Week 4.

A series later, Ford sacked Carr on fourth down on what became the Raiders' final snap.
