Williams sisters face off in Australian Open final

More specifically, two resilient, legendary players who've long carried the torch for United States tennis - Serena and Venus Williams.

"This is probably the moment of our careers so far".

"I think, credit to her, she played an nearly ideal first set. Today I felt I can do this, it is such a great opportunity for me".

"I have a lot to give to the game". Serena and Venus, both of whom wear Nike Shoes (Venus wears her own line of tennis clothing), have a combined 29 Grand Slam titles between the two of them.

Federer's semifinal opponent will be Stan Wawrinka, who had his major breakthrough in Australia in 2014.

Nineteen years after making her Australian Open debut, the 36-year-old cashed in on the experience of 73 grand slams to set up a meeting with another 25-year-old in fellow American Coco Vandeweghe.

But the sisters are showing that quality precedes age.

For the 28th time in history - ninth in a Grand Slam final - sisters Venus and Serena Williams will play each other for a title, ensuring the trophy will wind up in their Palm Beach Gardens home. Reaching the Wimbledon semi-final on grass - her favourite surface - last summer did not come so out of the blue, but on hard courts she has been less of a factor.

Pavlyuchenkova, playing her fourth major quarter-final, let her chances slip in a match with few extended rallies on Rod Laver Arena.

The Williams sisters have had difficulties, too.

"To play an unbelievable player, future Hall of Famer, Venus, to be on the court with her, I've only experienced it one time before".

US House of Representatives begins repealing Obamacare
The report estimated that 21-year-olds would see annual premiums drop by $700, but 64-year-olds would see theirs rise by $2,100. Before the ACA, 105 million Americans, a lot of them with employer coverage, had a lifetime limit on their insurance policy.

Serena reaching the final should be no surprise; the 35-year-old now is the No. 2-ranked singles player in the world and will be seeking her 23rd Grand Slam title. She also learned in 2011 she had the immune system disorder called Sjogren's syndrome.

"When she got into the quarterfinals she was happy, when she got to the semis she was happier", Venus' coach, David Witt, told CNN. The one sure outcome when they meet this week will be an American in the final at Melbourne Park.

Two double faults handed Williams a decisive double break in the second set and the seven-time grand Slam champion broke again at the start of the third.

“I cant believe this, this is insane, ” she said.

Serving for the first set, Vandeweghe faced her first break point of the set, but saved it with an ace.

Vandeweghe had taken out titleholder and world No.1 Angelique Kerber, French Open champion Garbiñe Muguruza, former Wimbledon finalist Eugenie Bouchard and 2015 US Open runner-up Roberta Vinci during her march to the semi-finals.

The match ended on Vandeweghe's serve, with a exhausted Muguruza hitting a forehand low into the net.

"Should I look across the net and believe the person across the net deserves it more?" she asked.

The 35-year-old Federer, meanwhile, is back from a six-month injury layoff because of left knee surgery.

"Never say never", Serena said.
