Judges grilled state and federal lawyers over Trump's travel ban in court

Now the higher court's denial of an immediate stay means the legal battles over the ban will continue for days at least.

Judge Richard Clifton, appointed by former President George W. Bush, wanted to know how the order could be considered discriminatory if it potentially affected only 15 percent of the world's Muslims, according to his calculations.

What are the roles of the executive branch and the court system?

While multiple courts struck down portions of the executive order, a judge in Washington state, James L. Robart, went further, allowing immigrants and travelers from those countries to again enter the U.S.

But the hearing, which concerned Trump's temporary ban on travel to the United States from seven Muslim countries, was completely colored by his alarming behavior.

Trump took to Twitter on Saturday to knock Robart, calling him a "so-called judge" whose ruling was "ridiculous". "A awful decision", he tweeted.

Meanwhile, almost 100 technology companies, including Apple, Google and Microsoft, have united against Trump's executive order.

He said what he heard was "disgraceful, just disgraceful".

We could, however, be left with no more than a tussle for Champions League qualification after the next two rounds of fixtures. They only have the eighth best defensive record in the league, with twenty-seven goals conceded in their twenty-two games.

For most of us, it was not until the election of Donald Trump as the 45th president of the United States that we ever would have expected to find ourselves hovering near a computer screen and listening to three judges hear arguments about a presidential executive order. Demonstrations took place outside the White House, in NY and near his estate in Palm Beach, Florida, where Trump was attending the annual American Red Cross fundraising gala.

In a Twitter post earlier on Wednesday, Trump wrote, 'If the USA does not win this case as it so obviously should, we can never have the security and safety to which we are entitled.

Opponents say the 90-day ban barring entry for citizens from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen and imposing a 120-day halt to all refugees, is illegal.

On Monday, the president of the American Bar Association fired back.

National security veterans, major US technology companies and law enforcement officials from more than a dozen states have backed a legal effort against the ban. In 18 months as a candidate, two more as president-elect, and two weeks as president, Trump has compiled a record of prejudice, deception, and bad judgment.

Hearings have also been held in court challenges nationwide.

A lawyer representing Minnesota and Washington states, which are challenging the ban, were asked if a Seattle judge's suspension of Trump's policy was "overbroad". The court may then decide to keep the restraining order in place, or vacate the order, which would be a victory for the president. "It is extraordinary for a court to enjoin the president's national security determination based on some newspaper articles", he fumed.

It is unusual for a sitting president to attack a member of the judiciary, which the U.S. Constitution designates as a check on the power of the executive branch and Congress.
