S. Korea certain N. Korean leader's brother killed in Malaysia

Kim Jong-Nam is believed to have been murdered by two female Pyongyang agents at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Monday, according to a report by TV Chosun, citing Seoul government sources.

The man had been waiting to board a flight to Macau when, according to police official Fadzil Ahmat, "a woman came from behind and covered his face with a cloth laced with a liquid", as he told Bernama, the Malaysian state news agency. Kim Jong-nam was once considered the favored successor to his father, Kim Jong-il.

"Regarding the National Security Council (NSC), the government judged that it was nearly certain that the person killed was Kim Jong Nam".

"The deceased ... felt like someone grabbed or held his face from behind", a police official told Reuters.

Kim Jong-nam - the eldest son of late former leader Kim Jong-il - had been living in foreign countries for years after apparently falling out of favor with his father for attempting to enter Japan with a fake passport in 2001.

Kim Jong-nam, known as an advocate of reform, once told a Japanese newspaper that he opposed his country's dynastic power transfers.

It would seem that Kim Jong-il thought differently, Mr Foster-Carter said, adding that although the North Korean dictator had inherited the position while young, he looked to be hunkering down and consolidating. In a 2012 book, an author quoted an email exchange with Kim Jong-nam in which he said that his younger half-brother's "regime will not last long".

The elder half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was killed in Malaysia this week in an apparent assassination, according to multiple reports.

US to Develop System Ensuring Immigrants Embrace American Values
It's not the imagery one might expect from a President who promised to bring private sector competency to governing. So in short, the courts will decide if Trump's immigration order or his other executive orders are legal.

Aidan Foster-Carter from Leeds University said he was "gobsmacked" by Kim Jong-nam's death and although "there are reasons why this might have happened, I certainly wasn't expecting it now".

Malaysia has diplomatic relations with North Korea, and Malaysians can travel to the isolated country visa-free.

If Kim's death is proven to be the work of North Korea's government, experts say it likely means Kim Jong-un deliberately acted to have his brother killed.

Kim tested the world this weekend as North Korea launched a new missile which the beggar kingdom claims can carry a nuclear warhead.

Two years later, the young North Korean leader had their uncle - and Kim Jong Nam's mentor, Jang Song Thaek - executed on suspicion of building an alternate power base. They are suspected to have been North Korean agents.

Speculation quickly spread in South Korea on Tuesday that Kim Jong Un might be behind the reported death of his half brother.

Kim had no official title and lived outside North Korea.

Oh Shin-hwan, a spokesman for the conservative Bareun Party, said members of his party "cannot help but be dismayed at the "fearpolitik" of Kim Jong Un" while urging a closer examination to see whether the incident would affect national security. The source also said his body was undergoing an autopsy. The incident, coupled with the rumored defection of Kim's mother (she died in Russian Federation in 2002), led to his estrangement from his father.
