Texan John Cornyn: Senate, House intelligence panels should investigate Flynn

November 18: Ten days after his election, President-elect Trump says Flynn will serve as his national security adviser.

Two weeks later, Vice President Mike Pence was asked if Flynn discussed sanctions with the Russian ambassador.

Trump was first informed about the Justice Department's concerns regarding Flynn on January 26, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said at Tuesday's daily press briefing.

"That's it, pure and simple". Reports Monday raised a question about what the White House knew and when, as a senior official confirmed to NBC News part of a Washington Post report that then-acting Attorney General Sally Yates told the White House last month that Flynn could be vulnerable to blackmail.

On Monday, Kellyanne Conway, a senior White House adviser, said Flynn "does enjoy the full confidence of the president".

"It was not a legal issue, it was a trust issue", he said.

December 29: Then-President Obama announces new sanctions against Russian Federation in response to its interference in the USA presidential election.

"The intelligence committee is already looking at Russian involvement in our election.it's highly likely they'd want to take a look at this episode, they have the jurisdiction to do it", McConnell told a regular press briefing.·.

Trump Aide Says Yen Manipulation Won't Be Priority in Abe Talks
Reporters who are supposed to keep an eye on President Trump couldn't see him Saturday morning. Trump openly questioned the value of some US alliances.

"The President was very concerned that General Flynn had misled the Vice President and others", he went on. Roy Blunt, R-Missouri said.

In a resignation letter late February 13, Flynn said he gave Pence and others "incomplete information" about the phone calls.

Dmitry Peskov is a spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin. Flynn's conversations may have violated the Logan Act, a law meant to prevent private citizens from conducting USA diplomacy, and would certainly be against normal diplomatic protocols. Flynn was a loyal Trump supporter throughout Trump's improbable campaign past year, but his ties to Russian Federation caused concern among other senior Trump advisers.

"It is clear that our task is more urgent than ever", Sen. The FBI and the Senate Intelligence Community are investigating. So I'm going to do that'. "I am also extremely honored to have served President Trump, who in just three weeks, has reoriented American foreign policy in fundamental ways to restore America's leadership position in the world".

Sen. John McCain, though, broke ranks Tuesday and sided with Democrats on the issue.

Republican John McCain, chairman of the Senate armed services committee, said Mr Flynn's resignation was a "troubling indication of the dysfunction of the current national security apparatus" and raises questions about Mr Trump's intentions towards Russian Federation.

"What this came down to was a matter of trust", said Spicer. But he stopped short of calling on the retired lieutenant general to testify in hearings.
