US tells North Korea: We don't want a fight, don't start one

The North conducted two nuclear tests and 24 ballistic missile tests last year, defying six Security Council sanctions resolutions banning any testing, and it has launched more missiles this year including a failed attempt this past weekend.

Tensions between communist North Korea and the United States and its allies in the region have escalated since North Korea's state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on March 7 that the nation's launch of four missiles the previous day was part of practice tests to hone its ability to strike USA military bases in Japan.

According to reports, a full orchestra played alongside the video, which depicted missiles soaring over the Pacific and engulfing a city on the USA west coast.

With an improved warhead and an upgraded booster, the missile is expected to have a longer range and more chance of targeting missiles mid-air. The US military is reportedly considering shooting these tests down. "But we're going to redouble our efforts to bring diplomatic and economic pressure to bear on North Korea".

SF Weekly points us to this interactive map tool in which you can try out the various sized weapons that North Korea has tested and see exactly what their blast radius and radiation effects would be if they landed anywhere in San Francisco.

Schilling thought the test could have been of a new design that Kim showed off in a massive military parade Saturday in Pyongyang. However, while the missile defense system has been in existence for about a decade, it only has a 50 percent success rate in previous weapons tests.

Johnson scores 28, Jazz beat Clippers 105-98 to even series
However, Joe Ingles and Joe Johnson stepped up for the Utah Jazz and led their team to a 105-98 victory on Sunday night. The Jazz offered Johnson, a seven-time All-Star with the Atlanta Hawks and Brooklyn Nets, a two-year, $22 million deal.

North Korea, meantime, was warned by US Vice President Mike Pence when he visited the demilitarized zone between South and Korea. Carlson didn't go so far as to say the countries are on the edge of war.

Because Mr Trump is not dealing with the same leader as President Clinton, who previously offered foreign aid for North Korea if they froze their nuclear program (they did not) and debated bombing nuclear installations there. He also pledged support and alliance to South Korea.

As Washington insists all options are on the table, South Korean officials warn the military option is unpalatable.

The review also is aimed at ensuring necessary military assets are properly situated if there is a need for military action.

Meanwhile, US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis said that President Donald Trump and his military team are aware of the missile launch. "The launch of the ballistic missile occurred near Sinpo", US Pacific Command spokesman CDR Dave Benham said. As a precaution, U.S. battleships were moved into the waters near the Korean peninsula.

North Korea will definitely be in the United Nations spotlight on April 28 when U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson presides at a Security Council meeting where Guterres will brief members on the North's nuclear program.
