Wall between Trump, GOP

TRT World's Azadeh Ansari reports from Washington.

"It's a golden opportunity for Trump to giant-foot-stomp (Democrats) and end this crap of a perennial, never-ending government shutdown paralyzing anything sensible being done with our budget and our economy", Limbaugh told his listeners.

US President Donald Trump indicated an openness to delaying his push to secure funds for his promised border wall with Mexico, potentially eliminating a sticking point as lawmakers worked to avoid a looming shutdown of the federal government. "'We want wall funding".

Democrats showed no sign of softening their opposition to wall funding on Sunday and sought to place responsibility for any shutdown squarely on Trump and Republicans who control the House of Representatives and the Senate.

But even if the fight over wall funding is over, Republicans and Democrats still have hard issues to resolve as they face tomorrow night's deadline when existing money expires for many federal agencies.

Less than an hour later, Trump himself deflected attacks that he may be backing off his border wall campaign promise, insisting, still that it "will get built and help stop drugs, human trafficking etc".

"Our major concerns in these negotiations have been about funding for the wall and uncertainty about the CSR payments crucial to the stability of the marketplaces under the Affordable Care Act", she said in a statement. So far, that's a nonstarter among Democrats.

Currently, these payments are being made by the White House instead of Congressional appropriation.

"I'm not convinced that cutting taxes is necessarily going to blow a hole in the deficit", said Utah GOP Sen.

Trump vowed to fight for the wall.

"The wall is going to get built", he said at the White House on Tuesday. "I'd be curious to ask the Democrats where they stand on a shutdown right now because we thought we had a deal as of yesterday".

Deadline Approaching To File Taxes
Where can I file my tax returns online? Non-tax reasons for transcripts include income verification for student or mortgage loans. And, for the top 1% of Americans, the effective federal tax rate is 33.4%, almost 10 times what those in the lowest quintile pay.

"It's not a negotiation", Mr Schumer said.

Meanwhile, Trump appeared poised to procure about $15 billion to boost the military.

Republicans registered the biggest uptick in support for the deal, which has been heavily criticized by GOP lawmakers since its inception in July 2015: 53 percent of Republican voters said they supported it, compared with 37 percent who backed it last summer and just 10 percent who supported it shortly after it was announced.

Reporter: Yesterday, President Trump reportedly said he is going to delay pushing the wall through.

National security issues remain a top issue for voters across the country.

Schumer, for his part, said Democrats are negotiating for provisions on health care for coal miners, aid to Puerto Rico and health care subsidies.

The meeting was also expected to include Gary Cohn, chief of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, and House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady, R-Texas. "The reality is a Republican president and a Republican-controlled Congress ought to be able to get the government funded and moving forward".

WASHINGTON (AP) - There's an unconventional new president in the White House. A White House effort later this year to get Congress to fund the wall could face a similar fate given that some Republicans also oppose it.

The changes in the bill would let states escape requirements under Obama's health care law that insurers charge healthy and seriously ill customers the same rates, and cover a list of specified services like maternity care.

The plan "has real merits worthy of consideration for all the Freedom Caucus folks", said Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., leader of that group.
