Trump launches commission to investigate voter fraud

Former Democratic presidential hopeful Senator Bernie Sanders said: "The sole objective of this commission is to propagate a myth and to give encouragement to Republican governors and state legislators to increase voter suppression".

His spokeswoman said membership on the panel would allow Dunlap "an opportunity to defend the elections process from a position of authority, as a fully informed and engaged participant". At least three additional secretaries of state are expected to be involved, Bill Gardner of New Hampshire, Connie Lawson of IN and Matthew Dunlap of Maine.

Some attempts to enact strict ID laws are being countered with lawsuits and struck down by courts, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. It didn't take long for Democrats to blast the President's decision to set up this election fraud review, as they charge Republicans are simply looking for ways to suppress the votes of their political opponents.

In an executive order titled "Establishment of presidential advisory commission on election integrity", Trump said the move was aimed at promoting "fair and honest federal elections".

"When you look at the registration and you see dead people that have voted, when you see people that are registered in two states, that have voted in two states, when you see other things, when you see illegals, people that are not citizens and they are on registration roles", Trump said. Schneiderman said his office found no substantiated claims of voter fraud in NY a year ago.

"The issue isn't voter fraud; it's voter suppression - and in places like NY, it's happening legally, as a result of our broken system".

Pivotal Game 5 awaits Boston as it returns home vs. Wizards
As the Wizards face the most important game in franchise history in almost 40 years, the Wizards need to treat this as such. He continued to stay aggressive and drive to the basket, but for the most part was unable to get around his defender.

Kobach is nearly single-handedly responsible for some of the nation's strictest immigration laws in at least a half-dozen states - he not only writes the laws, but advocates for them and battles on their behalf in court. And the ex-head of the F.B.I., who was sacked on spurious grounds after pressing an investigation into possible connections between the Trump campaign and the Russian interference in last year's election.

And now President Trump has turned to Kris Kobach to figure out what should be done about the American election system.

He said he was sending his application for the commission Thursday and hoped to be selected, albeit as a skeptical voice.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday establishing a panel to investigate voter fraud, a commission he first talked about in early February.

Trump has asserted he would have won the popular vote in the 2016 presidential election had it not been for illegal votes cast.

"That's the whole goal of this commission to see what evidence there is and see how large of a problem there is". I'd say that the public's confidence in the integrity of elections is pretty much shot by now. And far from a coordinated efforts by undocumented immigrants, the types of election fraud tends to be wide-ranging, from people registering their pets to vote, to bereaved spouses voting on behalf of their significant others, to teenagers voting in their mother's place because they couldn't make it to the polling station on time.
