Apple is using artificial intelligence to carve out new features

Apple has about 50 media partners that supply content to its Apple TV and on the television app on its popular iPhone. Google followed with its Home speaker, featuring its plain-named Assistant, last year.

So far, the Apple Watch, Apple TV and Mac offerings have been covered.

The new feature, which will be part of iOS 11, is an automatic setting that will come with the operating system upgrade. The next iOS may also have new features designed for artificial intelligence, the application of computers that learn and understand things like humans.

6am: Apple's senior vice president of software Craig Federighi is on stage to talk about iOS 11.

Total revenue for virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) is expected to increase from $5.2 billion in 2016 to over $162 billion in 2020, according to the IDC. The new features earning the most applause from the audience, however were the ability to block videos from automatically playing in Safari and intelligent tracking prevention, essentially stopping those pesky targeted ads from following you around the internet. Messages, as well as photos and videos, now occupy less space on a device, freeing up more storage to the user.

Penguins beat Predators 4-1, take 2-0 lead
It's a team game, and everyone looks at shots and save percentage but forget about the quality and who we're playing. This one would have been Pittsburgh's fifth goal of the game and thus didn't materially affect the outcome.

Apple has more than two million paid and free apps for the iPhone, iPad and other devices. Apple appears poised to unveil a voice-activated, internet-connected speaker that would create a new digital pipeline into people's homes. The tech giant may also give details about the "Files" app, which is expected to allows users to browse through files within devices using iOS 11.

Earlier in the event, Apple showed a series of updates to Apple Watch and the upcoming WatchOS 4, including a new Siri watch face that changes throughout the day to show data including weather, traffic, movie times and calendar events.

IOS 11 is, of course, also coming to the iPad, and it is speculated that Apple will release a 10.5-inch iPad Pro, that too with an edge-to-edge display.

The change will arrive alongside iOS 11, and will bring the game store more in line with the likes of iTunes and Apple News.

Apple will soon introduce a new iPhone feature that will do away with the annoying and risky urge to look at a text message while you're driving. Other navigation apps, like Google Maps, will also work, although not quite as easily.
