United Kingdom ministers push for Johnson to take over from Theresa May

The Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), social conservatives who favor Northern Ireland's continued inclusion in the United Kingdom, have enough seats to keep May in power after her Conservative Party lost its parliamentary majority - just 10 days before the formal divorce talks start.

An online petition calling on the leader of Britain's Conservatives to resign attracted more than 650,000 signatures as of Sunday morning, with the main opposition leader vowing action to oust her as prime minister, upping pressure on a deal between the Conservatives and the Northern Irish unionists.

Indeed, the prospect of a "hard" Brexit, by which the United Kingdom leaves with no deal, has shrunk with the Conservative majority, as it's a likely "red line" for the Democratic Unionist Party, the Northern Irish lawmakers May has turned to for support in Westminster.

The Conservatives lost an absolute majority they had enjoyed prior to the snap election on June 8, which May had called to strengthen her hand in the upcoming Brexit negotiations slated for June 19.

That calculation backfired spectacularly on Thursday as voters stripped the Conservatives of their parliamentary majority.

The announcement came after May lost Downing St. chiefs of staff Nick Timothy and Fiona Hill, who resigned Saturday.

Following the speech there will be a few days of debate followed by a vote on its content. Their influence had increasingly angered senior ministers.

Shadow foreign secretary Emily Thornberry told Sky News that the Labour party was "absolutely on our toes" to set up an alternative minority government if May's government falls apart, accusing the Conservative Prime Minister of "squatting in Downing Street".

May's weakened position in the party ruled out big changes. "I and other colleagues have made that clear to her".

Cavs end Warriors perfect postseason run in Game 4
When they met last summer in NY to discuss the biggest decision of his career, neither side even focused on winning titles. Durant's 3-pointer with 45.3 seconds remaining was the go-ahead basket as the Warriors scored the game's final 11 points.

It is thought Mrs May will seek some kind of informal arrangement with the DUP that could see it "lend" its support to the Tories on a vote-by-vote basis, known as confidence and supply, the BBC reports.

An online petition in objection to the Tories and DUP forming a minority government has gathered more than 300,000 signatures.

"A number of the issues have been raised about the DUP are matters of conscience which for the Conservative party have always been free vote issues".

But her campaign unraveled after a policy u-turn on care for the elderly, while Corbyn's old-school socialist platform and more impassioned campaigning style won wider support than anyone had foreseen. We need a Brexiteer.

There had been speculation Mr Hammond, the Chancellor, would be vulnerable in a post-election re-shuffle and the decision to leave him in the Treasury was being seen as a sign of her weakness after her Commons majority was wiped out.

Given May's diminished state, many in the European Union are wondering how long she will be leading the country and - by extension - the Brexit negotiations.

She said talks with Britain on its withdrawal from what will now be the 27-member European Union would start "in the coming days".

And although it has a female leader, it remains an overwhelmingly male, white bastion and is certainly more conservative than the Conservatives. She has abstained from voting on all bills to restrict access to abortion since and has not indicated she would want to revisit the current time limit in the next parliament.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said she had lost all legitimacy and called on her to stand aside and allow him to form an alternative administration, declaring: "We are ready to serve". She argued that Brexit, which Scotland largely rejected, changed the scenario to such an extent Scotland should be given a second referendum.
