Trump Touts 'Good Job' in Puerto Rico as Chicago Residents Take Action

Ten people have died and others do not have food, water or fuel.

Officials estimate it will take over a month to fix the islands severely damaged power grid and restore power to all of its inhabitants.

The US military and all relevant agencies are under orders to do "everything in their power" to help Puerto Rico, US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday.

"There were about 36 hours we were not in contact with them and we didn't know what was going on", said the pastor, sitting in the quiet sanctuary.

Crowley's vice president in Puerto Rico, Jose Ayala, said the company can't get truck drivers or trucks filled up with diesel to pick up supplies for distribution across the island.

In a series of tweets Monday night, Trump said the US territory's old electrical grid was "devastated".

But Trump couldn't resist taking a jab at Puerto Rico, as well, noting that the island owes "billions of dollars to Wall Street and the banks which, sadly, must be dealt with".

Migdalia Aponte lives in San Antonio with her husband and children, but she said the rest of her family is stuck in the now-devastated US territory.

As a bit of good news, Alvarez says he did get a text message yesterday from an uncle who lives in San Juan.

"My mother needs dialysis". The FAA reported nearly 100 takeoffs and landings in all on Tuesday and said it should be able to handle 36 an hour during daylight on Wednesday as it repairs damaged radar.

"Because of your reporting that I saw last night, I ordered food and snacks to be delivered to the airport today", he replied. With only 5 percent of electricity restored and most water undrinkable, many people on scene have said they have yet to see any FEMA trucks.

"Thus, we write to urge you to further mobilize the Department of Defense to immediately deploy additional assets in support of Puerto Rican and U.S. Virgin Island recovery efforts".
