US Open 2017 Men's Final Predictions: Rafael Nadal vs. Kevin Anderson

Playing like the Nadal of yore, world No.1outguns Potro in four sets to set up title clash with Anderson Juan Martin del Potro admitted he was "angry" over his US Open semi-final loss to Rafael Nadal before backing the Spaniard to claim a third NY title and 16th Grand Slam triumph.

Rafael Nadal, the Spanish tennis player now ranked No. 1 in the world, has advanced to the men's final of the US Open Tennis Championships this week in New York City. Even though it would be far from settled, winning the US Open final would put Nadal in firm control at 9,465 points, nearly 2,000 more than second-placed Federer, with two ATP 1,000 events and the World Tour Finals still to come this season.

Friday's win levels Nadal with del Potro at 5-5 on that surface, and he was in fine form at Ashe.

Del Potro, roared on by the Argentine fans who have given him loud support throughout this US Open, gathered himself to win a tight first set, before running out of steam.

But he couldn't get by Anderson, who stands at 6 feet, 8 inches. As Del Potro exhausted from his early attacks, Nadal reinvigorated himself, showing the world why he is still number one. Nadal has regained his place kas one of the best tennis players in the world through determination, grit, and agility. The Spaniard was more hestitant to pull the trigger on his forehand down the line in the first set, but that would change in the second.

Now he is the hot favourite to beat Kevin Anderson on Sunday and win multiple slams in a season for only the second time since 2010.

Nadal holds a 4-0 head-to-head record over Anderson, an oft-injured 31-year-old who starred at the University of IL before turning professional. After losing the first set 6-4, Nadal stampeded all over his opponent, to set up the final against Kevin Anderson tonight (1.00am PST).

He has hit 250 winners off his forehand to Nadal's 201 after six matches.

Cavs Evaluating Isaiah Thomas Trade Over Hip
How's that going to play out in the locker room? This means that they can re-sign him while being in the luxury tax. Professional sports analyst Chris Broussard described the Celtics' perception of Thomas to be egotistical.

Del Potro netted two balls in his attempt to consolidate but he eventually held for a 4-2 lead.

When Nadal's uncle and coach, Toni, was asked to describe his nephew's year, this was the reply: "It's easy to describe it". He became the lowest-ranked finalist at a major since Jo-Wilfried Tsonga reach the final of the Australian Open in 2008 at No. 38. "That helps a lot for my confidence, to be more calm and yeah, I am here in the final". The response to the basic statistic that Nadal has lost just one set in four previous meetings with Anderson prompts no more than a dismissive shrug of the shoulders and... I'm sure Pablo the same.

"This is why we work so hard", Anderson said. "He really controls the court well the few times I have played him".

I'm just happy I have another excuse to share this adorable photo again #usopen final!

"It's a very tough one".

"I feel like in the last while, definitely things have turned around", he said. The second is that for a match no one expects him to even get close in, he will play freely and produce the performance of his career.

"I think they'll be pretty excited", he said.
