Trump's top pick for Alabama loses race to the Senate

He warned his audience that Moore would have a harded time beating a Democratic opponent in the upcoming special election, whild odd would have coasted to victory easily.

Although he didn't get the President's endorsement, Roy Moore did get the endorsements of Sarah Palin, Sean Hannity, Iowa Rep. Steve King, Nigel Farage (Great Britain's Donald Trump), Ben Carson, and - most importantly - former White House Chief Strategist and Trump campaign manager Stephen K. Bannon.

Trump's supporters left the president out on the street, embarrassed and alone.

"We have to return the knowledge of God and the Constitution of the United States to the United States Congress", Moore told the crowd.

Moore's support, especially in rural parts of the state, outmatched unusual and his endorsements by Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.

Mr Trump and Vice-President Mike Pence have both appeared with Mr Strange at rallies, while a political group linked to top Senate Republican Mitch McConnell is said to have spent almost $9m (£6.7m) on his behalf. If Strange had won, Democrats would have walked away from this race.

Moore said in his victory speech that he still supports President Trump. The two faced off in an odd-year special election runoff where turnout was low and few voters were engaged. Strategists had said unusual would likely need more voters to turn out in order for him to win.

"Firebrand jurist Roy Moore on Tuesday night won the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate seat that previously belonged to Attorney General Jeff Sessions", the AP reported. But what are Democratic challenger Doug Jones's chances in a state that's been dominated by republican the last two decades?

Trump himself predicted Moore "is going to have a very hard time getting elected against the Democrat", while unusual said his opponent would be "an anchor around the neck of the party".

D Receivers: After Kelvin Benjamin went down with a knee injury in the first half, the Panthers didn't have any receivers step up. Williams picked off Newton midway through the second quarter, with his 7-yard return setting up the Saints at the Carolina 24.

Strange, the state's former attorney general, was appointed to Sessions' seat in February by then-Gov.

National Democrats are hoping that putting money and energy behind Jones can push him to the top over Moore, who was removed from his previous post in the state's high court twice for defying federal orders on religious grounds.

It was also revealed that he has appeared multiple times on a radio show hosted by pastor Kevin Swanson, who is known for preaching that gay people must be stoned to death. I've had those kitchen table talks with my spouse. Moore will be broadly aligned with the Ted Cruz wing of the Senate but his views - on, say, Sharia Law - are considerably more extreme than even Cruz.

"No, I'm not in favor of anything that is going to infringe on a woman's right and her freedom to choose", Jones said. "Roy Moore believes what we believe", the narrator declares.

Odd was bogged down by questions surrounding his appointment to the seat by then-Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley.

This race should come down to who can competently serves the people of Alabama in the Senate and embrace policies that encourage economic growth and quality of life.

Those events cast a pall over Strange's appointment and raised questions about whether there was a quid pro quo, and the senator struggled to answer the allegations. We expect more extremist candidates to emerge from the woodwork between now and primary season next year.

"He blew it by tap dancing with Gov. Bentley and being inadequately sensitive to the appearance of ethical behavior", Brown said.

Donald Trump: The President may have spent Tuesday night/Wednesday morning deleting tweets in support of odd, but that won't change the fact that he was for the loser in this race. Luther Strange, 55 percent to 45 percent, The New York Times reported.
