Cardinals shut out of 2018 Hall of Fame class

Also unsurprising: Randy Moss joined him.

It is obviously an honor to be elected to the Hall of Fame, whether it be in year one or twenty.

Not making it this year?

Ray Lewis, Brian Urlacher, Brian Dawkins, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Bobby Beathard, Jerry Kramer and Robert Brazile are the new inductees.

"John Lynch is one of the best football players I've ever played against", said Indianapolis/Denver quarterback Peyton Manning, himself a sure-fire first-ballot Hall-of-Famer. Moss, Jerry Rice and Terrell Owens are the only players to rank in the top five in National Football League history in receiving yards, touchdown receptions and 100-yard games. Lewis was a two-time Defensive Player of the Year, a Super Bowl MVP and a 13-time Pro Bowler.

Tom Brady: Rob Gronkowski brings joy to the New England Patriots offense
Another title and they match the Pittsburgh Steelers for most championships, six and counting. He didn't have one 100-yard game, but led the team with nine TD catches.

However, he's now contending with a strong group of first-year eligible players. After all, Ray Lewis was being investigated for murder at one point and ended up pleading guilty for obstruction of justice. Lewis was also fined $250,000 by the NFL. Moss had nine, including the incredible 2007 season with New England, where he posted an NFL-record 23 scores.

He caught nine passes for 122 yards, a near-miracle given that he was basically playing on one loeg. He immediately made an impact and had a late-career renaissance with the Broncos, earning a second-team All-Pro selection and a Pro Bowl nod for his 2009 performance.

Owens' on-field credentials made him appear like a lock for Canton, with 1,078 career receptions, 15,934 yards and 156 touchdowns in his 16-year career. The six-time Pro Bowler and five-time All-Pro ranks second in National Football League history with 15,934 receiving yards and third with 153 touchdown catches on 1,078 receptions. It was nearly explicitly as a result of Owens's behavior outside the lines. He also played with San Francisco, Philadelphia, Buffalo and Cincinnati during his career. In a 46-36 victory over Dallas on Thanksgiving Day of that season, Moss caught three passes, all going for touchdowns, and had 163 receiving yards. He finished with eight seasons with at least 1,200 yards receiving and seven with at least 70 catches. However, Urlacher garnered the support needed to get a gold jacket on his first attempt. For his first six years, Boselli was a three-time All-Pro and a five-time Pro Bowl selection.

Ray Lewis and Brian Urlacher terrorized opposing offenses from the middle of the field.

After being selected with the 61st pick in the 1996 NFL Draft, the former Clemson Tiger quickly became the Eagles' starting free safety, a position he held for the next decade plus, and revolutionized the position at the NFL level. "I watched Steve Largent, and I don't think I can say enough good words about Jerry Rice and what he meant to the game".
