Reuters banned from Winter Olympics opening ceremony after rehearsal photos leak

Following a ban over alleged state-sponsored doping in the 2014 Sochi Olympics, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) last week made a decision to allow only 169 of Russia's athletes to take part in the Games under a neutral flag.

The 29-year-old, who lives near Bayview and Steeles avenues, boarded a plane for South Korea on Thursday, Jan. 25, where she will remain for the entire month of February to assist with the Pyeongchang Games.

Despite concerns over the chemistry of the team given the lack of training time together, Bach claimed the move had shown the "Olympic spirit". Reuters then reportedly took the photos down after both the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the PyeongChang organizing committed protested the publishing of the pictures.

However, given the North's decision on Monday, the official said it was unlikely that any joint performance would be held before the Winter Olympics begin in Pyeongchang on Feb 9.

The opposition was led by the main opposition Liberty Korea Party, which had favored the North Korea's participation in the South Korea-hosted sports event under the presidency of impeached leader Park Geun-hye.

For Sharapova , who is looking to rediscover her best on her way back from a 15-month drugs ban, it is back to the drawing board. A 6-2, 6-1, 6-4 loss to No. 97-ranked Tennys Sandgren in the second round was his earliest exit in a decade at Melbourne Park.

The last winter olympics took place in Sochi, Russia in 2014, where the United States brought home 28 Olympic medals.

The DPRK women's ice hockey team, composed of one director, 12 athletes, and two assistants, has been dispatched to the South in advance and the athletes are now conducting joint training with their ROK counterparts. However, South Korean officials fear that it may be the North Korean personnel that are actually at greater risk of being attacked given the strong feelings that some hold towards the rogue nation.

The joint team was forged as part of peace efforts by Seoul to use the Pyeongchang Winter Games in the South to ease tension on the flashpoint peninsula.

Interpark Entertainment reportedly confirmed to Korean news outlet YTN Star that Guckkasten's Ha Hyun Woo would be performing during the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics opening ceremony on February 9.
