Erin Moran, Joanie Cunningham in "Happy Days", dies at 56

The Harrison County Sheriff's Department in IN confirmed that officers were called to her home on Saturday in response to reports of an unresponsive woman onsite and found her deceased from unknown causes.

Popular actress Erin Moran, a mainstay on TV from the late '60s to the mid-'80s and best known for her kid-sister role in the sitcom "Happy Days", has died.

While no details about Moran's death were immediately available over the weekend, an autopsy was pending, according to the Associated Press.

By fall 2012, the Indianapolis Star reported Moran had been kicked out of the trailer and was seen living in a motel in Corydon.

Erin Moran was just 14 when she hired on to play Ron Howard's sister in the family comedy, which aired from 1974 to 1984.

The Burbank, California, native first began acting at the young age of 5 after her mother signed her up with an agent.

"I am proud of our efforts over the years to help Erin Moran, whose troubles were many and complex", Paul Petersen, who runs the child-actor advocacy group "A Minor Consideration", said in a Facebook post.
