Jazz's Gobert to miss Game 3 vs Clippers with knee injury

The Clippers defeated the Jazz, 99-91, in the second game of the a first round of the Western Conference playoffs at Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA.

First, it was Jordan, as he elevated for an acrobatic reverse alley-oop in the opening minutes of the game. But you know, that's the pursuit. The Jazz witnessed first-hand why this Clippers squad has been dubbed "Lob City".

"I hope he's great". I was still high from one of the all-time best Jazz games in Game 1. The Jazz could do nothing to stop it with starting center Rudy Gobert out of the lineup with a left knee injury.

Hayward stumbled his way to 20 points in the last game, but he shot just 5-15 from the field and collected seven of those points from the stripe.

Everything considered, Utah could count itself lucky to only trail by 11 after the first quarter. Johnson still did well off the bench, scoring 13 points in the game, but was taken advantage of in the power forward spot defensively.

However, the Clippers did also force Hayward into his worst shooting game of the season in mid-February (2-of-12, 16.7 percent) so there's no questioning that they've had a solid game plan for containing him all year long.

Johnson scores 28, Jazz beat Clippers 105-98 to even series
However, Joe Ingles and Joe Johnson stepped up for the Utah Jazz and led their team to a 105-98 victory on Sunday night. The Jazz offered Johnson, a seven-time All-Star with the Atlanta Hawks and Brooklyn Nets, a two-year, $22 million deal.

Hayward led the Jazz with 20 points and Joe Johnson, the hero whose floater at the buzzer gave them a two-point win in Game 1, added 13 points off the bench. Chris Paul has to lead his team to a win tonight or their playoffs is going to be coming to an end. "Utah is a hard place to play because they're good, due to their fans and because of altitude". The Utah Jazz are averaging 94 points on 47 percent shooting and allowing 97 points on 48.5 percent shooting. This would be the closest the Jazz would get, though, as Paul immediately responded with a 28-foot three-point jumper, an emphatic block on guard George Hill, a steal against Hill and another basket to push the lead back to eight. We've lost a first game and won a series. They are an even 19-19-3 at home this season. It led to a win, but it was the smallest margin of victory over the Jazz out of the four wins this season. It will be interesting to see what happens in game's three and four of this series as the Jazz will clearly put a bigger emphasis on keeping players out of the paint. Hayward singlehandedly outscored the Clippers 6-0 to send the Jazz into the fourth leading 74-70.

Snyder dismissed whether the Clippers might feel compelled to play that way to avoid an 0-2 deficit before facing a hostile crowd in Utah for Games 3 and 4.

"When we're playing offensively with the right pace, that aggressiveness just kind of comes with the flow of the offense", Griffin said.

It also helped that Paul did not allow two first-quarter fouls to dial back his aggressiveness.

Giannis Antetokounmpo had 24 points and 15 rebounds for the Bucks.

Jamal Crawford was the other LA Clipper to score in double figures after he finished with 10 points, but miss all five of his 3-point attempts. The Jazz tried to do it with Hill on a couple occasions, so don't be surprised if they do it more in Game 3 and possibly beyond.
