Dollar General Corp. (DG), Dollar Tree, Inc. (DLTR) Slump After Earnings

He said, "The reality is the retail environment isn't easy". The Next Quarter growth is expected to be 55.1%. The prior year's second quarter included $60.0 million of markdown expense related to product assortment rationalization and planned liquidations at Family Dollar. Analysts had been expecting the retailer to report a same-store sales lift 2.4 percent, according to Thomson Reuters. Growth in sales, however, did not translate into increase in gross margins. The 1.2% same store sales increase was a little higher than the same store sales increase Dollar General (NYSE:DG) has seen (up 0.7% yoy), but a little lower than Wal-Mart's (NYSE:WMT) same store sales increase of 1.6% yoy.
