The Bill Cosby s*x assault case has been declared a mistrial by the Judge presiding over the case, after the jury was deadlocked for a second time.

Announcing the decision, Pennsylvania judge Steven O'Neill reminded Mr Cosby that he remains charged and on bail, despite the mistrial.

Following the mistrial, Cosby's spokesperson did some chest thumping.

Mr Cosby, 79, is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in 2004.

Steele of Montgomery County immediately vowed to put Cosby on trial again.

Count 1 alleges that Cosby didn't have consent when he penetrated Constand's genitals with his fingers.

But throughout the trial, the defense - led by Philadelphia lawyer Brian J. McMonagle and co-counsel Angela Agrusa - sought to use earlier doubts about Constand's credibility against her.

"We can never underestimate the blinding power of celebrity", Allred stated outside the courthouse. This whole trial was an attempt at a take-down, she suggested, by people who had already made up their minds - or even had an ax to grind - about her husband. He says it was consensual.

Later, after the jury was out of the room, O'Neill said the trial was the "largest undertaking in probably the history of this county" and thanked public and the news media for their good behavior in the courtroom.

"It's a challenging case but for numerous accusers they think it's a pretty simple case and that if it we're other than Mr. Cosby maybe there could have been a different result", added Allred.

It was unclear how close the jury was to reaching a decision. Heinously and exploitatively ambitious, ' Camille Cosby said in the statement.

Constand did not appear at the news conference.

Cosby and his publicity team emerged triumphant from the courthouse on Saturday. Steele said he and prosecutors Kristen Feden and M. Stewart Ryan "will evaluate and review" the case. "I have no real recollection except later I was jolted awake", she said, going on to describe how he used his hand to violate her.

"She's a very spiritual woman, she believes things happen for a objective, and I think the goal is.it should encourage other women to come forward and have their day in court", said her lawyer, Dolores Troiani.

But she said Ms Constand is ready to go to trial again.

The mistrial was a blow to the dozens of women who have said they were sexually assaulted by Cosby.
