Maine Man Sparks Outrage by Putting Up 'Black Rifles Matter' Sign

Delicate yachting aficionados to a small tourist town in coastal ME are getting the vapors and taking their their fainting couches because local resident Linc Sample dared to stand up for our right to bear arms by putting a sign in his yard challenging gun control fetishests obsession with AR-15-style rifles.

Linc Sample created the sign and claims he's not bringing race into the discussion but rather created the sign in support of gun rights.

People are in an uproar because they say the sign takes a shot at the "Black Lives Matter" movement but Sample thinks they should be "flattered I used the phrase".

"If anything, they should be flattered I used the phrase", said Sample.

While many have called for the sign's removal, Boothbay Harbor officials say Sample has the proper permitting and is exercising his First Amendment rights. "So is my rifle", Sample said.

The obvious pun on "Black Lives Matter" has led to complaints from some tourists, said Boothbay Region Chamber of Commerce Director Rick Prose.

"They're being targeted for their appearance, well so's my rifle", he told NECN News.

Another tourist, Jeremy Plasse believes that the town is doing the right thing by leaving the sign up. Sample frequently changes his large sign and told NCEN that a new one will soon replace the polarizing Black Rifles Matter one.

Boothbay Harbor Town Manager Tom Woodin also said he's received several complaints about the sign, but that it's entirely legal.

"There isn't much the town can do about it", Woodin said.

According to Fox News, tourism-related businesses are receiving a ton of backlash after visitors spotted the large, hand-painted sign in Sample's yard. They shouldn't be putting things out like that. "The sign never had any meaning in it, it was never meant to be a reflection on race or a threat to Black Lives Matter".
