Mother Teresa: 'Saint of the gutters' canonized at Vatican

Mother Teresa was canonized on Sunday by Pope Francis, and will now be known as St. Teresa of Calcutta. The mandatory requirement of achieving "two miracles" for sainthood stated by the Vatican was coming to the mother all her way - one from an Indian woman who recovered from ovarian cancer and the other, a Brazilian, cured from brain tumour only by offering prayers to her. How blessed I felt to be there.

Mother Teresa knew that Our Lord Jesus was truly God with us, the Principle of our unity as a Church, and the only true principle of unity the world will ever know.

The daughter of a friend of mine was one of those privileged to carry a relic of Saint Teresa to the altar.

At least 120,000 people crowded a sun-drenched St. Peter's Square for the canonization of the acclaimed nun who may have worked in the slums of Kolkata but was a force to be reckoned with by political and religious leaders around the world. He said, "With great spontaneity, I think we will continue to call her Mother Teresa".

In the 40-second video, Trump recalls Mother Teresa's "amazing life of charity and holiness", in which she "gave food to the hungry, shelter to the homeless and education to the needy".

The mass is on the anniversary of her death 19 years ago, in 1997.

DOH bares 6th case of Zika in PH
Brazil had to look for ways to stop the mosquito and they sent health workers to spray around the venues and many other areas. The Zika virus results in mild illness but has caused neurologic defects ( microcephaly ) in babies born of infected mothers.

He says it was a life changing 20 minutes that inspired him to follow Mother Teresa's footsteps and start a global health movement, called Timmy Global Health. As the years passed, more and more people were tended to and benefited from the numerous charities, homes and medical establishments Mother Teresa opened.

Teresa's most famous critic, Christopher Hitchens, has accused her of taking donations from dictators - charges church authorities deny. The home was started by Mother Teresa in 1983 and is now giving care to some 13 elderly women residents and 18 children in the day care section on a charitable basis.

"When she came to the United States she was struck by the spiritual poverty", said Druding.

"I remember her saying "be as holy as Christ", it is a powerful word that once binded communities as hard as the rock", Father Marc said.

And according to Monica Besra, she said praying to the nun cured a stomach tumor - and the Vatican in 2002 couldn't find a "scientific explanation" for her recovery. Only by putting Christ first, Mother knew, could her sisters have the strength to put into effect His radical love for those who are most vulnerable, most rejected by society. But in the case of Mother Teresa, this admiration for noble suffering seems to of been projected onto others.
