Hurts, Alabama defense, lead way to 49-30 win over Arkansas

There is no shame in losing to the Alabama Crimson Tide, even by a 49-30 margin at home.

Alabama freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 13 of 17 for 253 yards, while the Tide netted 264 yards rushing, paced by running back Damien Harris' 122 yards on 13 carries. The SEC finally postponed the game Thursday afternoon, and both sides seemed aggravated with how everything played out. "And so far this season we have gotten that out of all three phases of the game", said head coach Nick Saban on Monday. "We have to get our minds right and get ready for the Ole Miss game". He dropped two of his four punts inside the Razorbacks' 20-yard line, netted 41.5 yards per punt, and booted a long of 63 yards with two kicks beyond 50 yards. Alabama sacked him six times.

"We're certainly not where we want to be", Saban said. Clipboard in hand, he checks off each running back, safety, and defensive end, wondering why they bother including batteries at all if they are just going to use the shitty off-brand because they know good and well he's just going to replace them immediately or else have to do it a week from now, and how frustrating is that? It was a combination of that.

"(Allen) played an outstanding game".

Lately, it's been a lot, and Alabama's ferocious pass rush has been amplified to a greater degree as a result.

The Crimson Tide's final interception pushed the lead to 49-24.

"I'm disappointed for the fans to not get them a win today", Bielema said, per the Associated Press, via USA Today. This week the teams will play in Knoxville with Bama undefeated at 6-0 and ranked first in the nation and Tennessee (5-1, coming off a double overtime loss at undefeated Texas A&M) ranked ninth. I said something to the team, I was like 'We got to get off the field, man. Alabama has done it in half of its game this season. It was Cornelius' third straight game of 100 yards or more receiving. "It's obviously a big game for our players as well, and it's very challenging to play this game on the road as it always is because there's always a lot of energy and enthusiasm".

Nalley, 37, was arrested by UA police and charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct for shouting obscenities from the lower stands in the northwest corner of Reynolds Razorback Stadium as Bielema and the Arkansas team headed toward the Broyles Athletic Center.

This story has been corrected to show Alabama has scored nine non-offensive touchdowns this season, not 10. I'm not a big stats guy, but we really did a great job of moving the ball. An Adam McFain 25-yard field goal for Arkansas cut the lead to 28-10. Twelve Alabama defenders have recorded hurries, and the Tide is producing four sacks per game - tied for the second-highest average in the Football Bowl Subdivision. Hatcher hauled in two touchdown catches of 16 and 10 yards in the second and third quarter.

Alabama started the game fast. His status for the rest of the season is doubtful, Arkansas coach Bret Bielema said after the game.
