Early Voting: More Good Signs for Clinton in Key States

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump held a three-percentage-point lead over Democrat Hillary Clinton on the eve of early voting in Texas, according to the latest University of Texas/Texas Tribune Poll. Obama's appearances have become a key part of Clinton's effort to fire up women, particularly black women for whom she's a model and a source of pride. As Mr. Trump's unusual campaign draws to a close before November, many wonder whether Texas will actually vote for Mrs. Clinton, going blue for the first time in recent memory.

That reflected a sharp decline in confidence from last month, when 58 percent of Republicans said they thought their party's nominee would win, versus 23 percent who expected Clinton to prevail.

Mirroring other surveys, Trump has a 17-point advantage among white voters and a 24-point lead in northern Florida.

Georgia: Trump at 44 percent to Clinton's 43 percent, with 8 percent for Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson.

Party loyalty also seems to be strengthening in this Fox News poll, with both candidates getting the vote of roughly the same percent from their respective parties. Retired pediatric neurosurgeon Ben Carson, a Detroit native who dropped out of the Republican presidential primary race and threw his support to Trump, will be in Grand Rapids on Saturday.

By contrast, 69 percent of Hillary Clinton's supporters say they'll accept the outcome if Trump wins. Those voters dumped on Trump: 86 percent said he would be awful.

"A lot of call-ins about vote flipping at the voting booths in Texas", Trump tweeted. Among them: consolidating the support of her party and even winning some Republicans. Democrats now lead in ballots submitted, 46 percent to 29 percent.

They distributed a quote from a Wall Street Journal piece saying, "Donald Trump has made revitalizing manufacturing-specifically the US steel industry-a core part of his pitch to voters in Rust Belt swing states like Pennsylvania and Ohio". Clinton and Democrats had about 4,900 people on payroll in September, while Trump and Republicans had about 1,500.

Another troublesome sign for Trump: The Republicans' congressional campaign committee has released a new TV ad that praises a GOP House member who has said Trump has "disqualified himself" to be president.

Washington bureau chief Craig Gilbert gives his take on Paul Ryan's stance with Donald Trump and how his republican colleagues are reacting.

The Chicago Cubs even the World Series with a 5-1 win over the Cleveland Indians before heading home to Wrigley Field.

82 percent of all Trump supporters - and an astounding 74 percent of Clinton's - think media outlets are favoring the former secretary of state. They accounted for 27 percent of likely voters in the first three nights of tracking, versus 31 percent in the last two.

Trump has long argued that the USA would be better off if it had a more productive working relationship with Russian Federation and has called for the two countries to work together to take on Islamic State militants, despite their differences over Syrian President Bashar Assad's government. Women back Clinton 55 - 35 percent.

In Iowa, Trump appears to have a more solid position, but he would need to run the board of swing states to win the White House.

Early voting, via mail or in-person, is underway in 37 states. But he knows Trump - and doesn't like him. This year, only 35 percent of OH voters have submitted their ballots so far.

MethodologyThis ABC News/Washington Post poll was conducted by landline and cellular telephone October 22 to 25, 2016, in English and Spanish, among a random national sample of 1,135 likely voters.

Rubio leads Murphy by a margin of 46 percent to 42 percent, according to the poll. The for all respondents is plus or minus 2.75 percentage points, and for likely voters is plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

Trump takes a break
Eleanor Holmes Norton wielded golden shovels and posted for photos with the magnate, Ivanka and two of his sons, Don Jr. and Eric. Trump had met with GOP lawmakers that day, perhaps in an effort to build a relationship with the Republican Party.
