Starting in 2014, members and their staffs had to use federal or state health care exchanges instead of the coverage that is available to most government workers. People would suffer, they insisted, and our nation would not survive.

This change, plus Trumpcare's replacing of Obamacare subsidies with less generous tax credits for many seniors, acts like a tax on age, according to the AARP.

Presumably, half of those people identify as Republicans, or at least as non-Democrats. They consider medical conditions, not how they got injured or sick. Uncompensated indigent care will stagger them. Don't they worry about losing their life savings because of one illness?

I ran for the state legislature to fix health care in our state, and when I saw the same principles as TennCare being debated and eventually enacted on the national level after President Obama was elected, I decided that I had to try and make a difference in Congress.
