Roger Federer on course to create more history at Wimbledon

The Scot, who was knocked out in the quarter-finals at Wimbledon by Sam Querrey on Wednesday (12 July), came into the tournament with a hip injury and it was one of the main reasons the defending champion lost in the quarter-finals at SW19.

Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic may be battered and bruised, but Roger Federer has handed them the blueprint to keep playing into their mid-30s - take a risk, take a break.

"I can't believe it - 100 matches".

Federer told BBC Sport: "I'm very happy that my body kept me going all these years". It was a ideal setting.

If the manner in which Murray struggled in the final two sets was a bit of an anti-climax, it had nothing on what went on at the No.1 Court a little while later, as Djokovic, after losing the first set and going down a break in the second to Tomas Berdych, retired hurt with an elbow injury. Those losses opened up the draw even more for the 35-year-old veteran. I hope he has not aggravated his injury.

"At the moment Federer's looking pretty good".

"I'll try to understand everything that goes around and we'll see where I can play next". It is his 100th match, so it changed as an extra special because of his win and also he enters into the 12th semifinal with a better performance than the last year's finalist, Raonic in the quarterfinals.

Federer snatched a break for 3-2 with a whipping forehand victor and served out with an ace after just 31 minutes.

It's time for No. 1 pick Fultz to turn 76ers into winners
When he heard the news that he was working out for the Sixers , Fultz's first thought was about fast-food chicken sandwiches. They traded down and gave up the chance to draft Markelle Fultz , who was the best player in the draft by far.

Federer struck two rasping backhand winners in the fifth game and raced across the turf to punish Raonic for failing to put away a volley. Raonic tried to force the issue with serve and volley, but Federer was ready for that as well.

Federer initially saved his first break point of the match at 0-1 in the third set before coming through another hard test at 3-4 where he faced a further four break points.

Kuznetsova was the first to finish her match on Monday, beating Agnieszka Radwanska 6-2, 6-4.

Berdych is in the Wimbledon semi-finals for the second successive season after a poor year at the Slams in which he exited the Australian Open in the third round and Roland Garros after two matches.

Roger Federer has broken plenty of records in his career, but the 18-time Grand Slam champion said he was surprised to join the elite in this specific category.

Raonic looked better in the third set, holding serve and taking it to a tiebreak.

Rybarikova, who beat Pliskova in the second round, defeated Petra Martic of Croatia 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 and advanced to the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the first time.

But it seems no-one can get close to the seven-time Wimbledon champion as he maintained his record of not dropping a set at this year's tournament.
