Buckeyes Win Classic At Camp Randall

No. 2 Ohio State defeated No. 8 Wisconsin 30-23 in a wild overtime thriller Saturday night, but the seeds for that victory were planted in the third quarter.

Ohio State and Wisconsin are tied at 23-23 with 4:02 left.

Ohio State Football had to scratch and claw to get a victory over the Wisconsin Badgers.

Wisconsin RB Corey Clement turned in his best performance of the season with 164 yards on 25 carries. Wisconsin was unable to get into the endzone, despite getting to first-and-goal from the five-yard line, and the game ended when Hornibrook was sacked. Brown's four catches for 48 yards and the game-winning touchdown catch in overtime, were part of his most productive game since his four-touchdown game against Oklahoma. J.T. Barrett threw for 93 yards and a touchdown in 9-for-21 passes. And with the game on the line, Hornibrook, the redshirt freshman, had nowhere to go with the ball as the pocket collapsed and he was pressured and sacked by Tyquan Lewis to seal the dramatic win for the Buckeyes, who are a ideal 6-0 despite replacing 16 starters from last year's team.

The Badgers entered the night No. 3 in the Big Ten in scoring defense (12.2 ppg), No. 3 in total defense (291.4 ypg) and No. 1 in rushing defense (90.4 ypg).

Since 2004, Wisconsin's Camp Randall Stadium is the second-toughest place for visitors to play among the home stadiums for all Power Five schools. Iowa is 5-2 overran and 3-1 in the Big Ten.

Then, after a pass interception by Gareon Conley at Wisconsin's 38-yard line, OSU took advantage of a short field again.

Endicott kicked a 22-yard field to increase Wisconsin's lead to 16-6 with 14 seconds remaining in the first half.

It was one of the few times that Ohio State linebackers were unsure what the play was going to be from how they lined up and put players (especially receiver Jazz Peavey) in motion. To just assume that because a team returns "X amount of players" or their coach or a certain position means all the positives carry over from the previous season are false.

But the Badgers could use more production out of their running game.

Wisconsin entered the game having leaned heavily on a strong defense to rise to the top 10, but the Badgers' almost pulled the upset because of a vastly improved offense.

OSU coach Urban Meyer admitted after the game he was ready to tear into his team at halftime for allowing 313 yards in the first half and the offense couldn't score a touchdown. The Buckeyes defense would force a fourth and goal sack of Badgers freshman quarterback Alex Hornibrook.

J.T. Barrett would not let his team lose. "This one is tough. because we didn't come into this one hoping to keep it close", Chryst said. Game over. Ohio State is a 30-23 victor.
