Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Monday lauded External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for her powerful speech at the United National General Assembly, saying she put forward India's views on terrorism very strongly.

Amid speculation of a possible tactical response by the Indian Army in the months ahead, external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj is bound to mount a diplomatic offensive on Monday at the United Nations to isolate Pakistan globally, where she is expected to raise the issue of Pakistani support to terrorism in J&K and Pakistan's own dismal human rights record in Balochistan. "The brutality against the Baloch people represents the worst form of state oppression".

The spokesperson also said that Swaraj's reference to Pakistan's province of Balochistan in her speech was a violation of United Nations principles and worldwide law.

Her visit has come at the heel of a strident denunciation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of Pakistan on Saturday.

In response, Ambassador Lodhi said, "For the Indian external affairs minister to claim that her country has imposed no preconditions for talks with Pakistan is another flight from reality".

She said that Kashmir was an internationally recognized dispute and the oldest item on the agenda of the of the world body. "The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (Educate the Girl Child, Save the Girl Child) program has become a nation-wide mission", she said.
