They were taking two shots for every one attempted by the Anaheim Ducks, but between the great play of goalie John Gibson and their inability to bury chances, the Predators entered the third period 20 minutes from trailing 2-1 in the Western Conference Final.

Perry's goal saved what would have been an embarrassing collapse by the Ducks, who blew a 2-0 lead in a 5:51 span late in the third period.

NOTE: With his third OT goal of this postseason, Perry matched the National Hockey League record for most overtime goals in a playoff year (Mel Hill in 1939 and Maurice Richard in 1951). The Predators have the opportunity to all but shut down the Anaheim Ducks with a win that would put them up 3-1 in a series.

The Predators held a 5 on 3 advantage for 1:31.

How it happened: In the franchise's first home game in the conference finals, Nashville nearly played second fiddle to Gibson.

On the ice, this pivotal game four is a must-win for the Anaheim Ducks... they have to know that.

The Predators are used to trailing in playoff games.

"We thought we were outcompeted last game, so it feels good to take care of business and get a split on the road and now it's best out of three", Ducks center Andrew Cogliano said.

Rickard Rakell took advantage of a bad Nashville line change, ripping a slapper past the blocker side of Rinne for his seventh goal of the playoffs. Gibson's shutout bid ended with 6:27 remaining in regulation when Subban's slap shot from the right point snuck past Gibson's glove to cut Nashville's deficit in half.
